2003 One Day of Service Closeout Report   PDF  Print  E-mail

After much planning, working with community organizations, members of the Section C-1A made the 2003 ONE DAY of Service a huge success. Over the past two years, the Section C-1A has increased its support from two lodges participating in the year 2001, to all six lodges participating in the year 2003.

The Section conducted over fourteen projects, with 231 participants (219 Arrowmen), for a combined total of 939.5 man hours to the communities within the lodges we serve. Working closely with the Section C-1A Council of Chiefs, Advisers, and Arrowmen of all six lodges, we were able to complete a successful campaign in service. It is the Section C-1A’s sincere hope that by giving back to our communities, we may influence others associated with Scouting and non-Scouters to carry a renewed sense of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service in their daily lives.

A special thank you goes out to the Central Region ONE DAY of Service Committee and Andy Newberry for exceptional support materials and information during the project steps. At the Section level, we would like to thank all Lodge Chiefs: Ross DuBois, Paul Jensen, Russ Even, Jake Drotzman, William Peterson, and Tyler Karp. Also thank you to Advisers Bill Lenker, Greg Nygren, ONE DAY Adviser, Francis McElroy, Section Secretary, Paul Jensen, Section Vice-Chief, Andy Herzberg, and Section Chief, Jeff Hayward for promotion and implementation of the Section ONE DAY of Service Committee.

Finally, it is my personal hope that through this project, Scouts and Scouters will be inspired to not only build Scouting and it’s programs, but to build America in itself, having a greater respect and appreciation for it. Through leadership and service, we can make a difference in Scouting and to the communities we serve each day. This is our noble goal and purpose. Contact your Lodge Chief or Adviser today to find out more about this rewarding project. Join the Section C-1A in 2004 to see how much you can do in ONE DAY!! Yours in the spirit of service,

Gregory J. Buehner
2003 Section C-1A ONE DAY Program Coordinator
